It's architectural similarity to the outgoing Xbox/PS2/Gamecube console generation made it fairly easy to port games from those systems over to the Wii, usually with motion controls added to take advantage of the new console's capabilities (some examples off the top of my head are Resident Evil 4, MOH: Vanguard, Metroid Prime Trilogy, and a fair amount of others). Around 2007, the Wii was a highly popular console, dominating sales and was one of the hottest consumer electronic products of that entire year. The comments on this r/games post about an unreleased prototype for the Wii got me thinking about why Star Wars: Battlefront never received a Wii port or a Wii exclusive title.
